It’s surprising, if only because we know where Leanne ends up. But that’s not the case with Leanne, as she is returning not from a night out, but from her Rumspringa,Īnd has chosen to be baptized and to rejoin her Pennsylvania Dutch lifestyle. Her in a cornfield changing clothes, as though she were a typical teenage girl sneaking in after a night out. She’s already dealing meth but seems strangely averse to it, sitting around the campfire with her friends and listening to their disjointed ramblings. When we first see her, Leanne is a teenager. Off-putting, and it’s not until we get a glimpse into her past that we begin to understand why knowing the rules means so much to Leanne. As the group grows more vocal, so does Leanne, who is anxious to outline what exactly the group believes and how they practice it, the better to defend themselves from nonbelievers.
